Building African Heritage
Copywriter
Full-time · in-house · Lagos
About Compound
Compound is a design-led company working across property development, media, publishing, and events — a real-estate developer with a media arm, a publishing line, and an events practice built around it. Everything we make is held to a single standard of taste, consistency and restraint.
The role
The Copywriter owns the words behind Compound — the CRAFT publication and The CRAFT Edit, the COVO and property brands, campaign and launch copy, social captions, scripts, and the small, precise lines that make everything feel considered. It is a full-time, high-output role for a writer with genuine range and a strong ear, who can move between long-form editorial and a tight headline without losing the voice.
Key responsibilities
- Write and edit across the brand — publication features, newsletters, product and campaign copy, social, scripts and captions.
- Hold the Compound voice: editorial restraint, warmth, and precision, with no filler.
- Turn briefs around fast and to a high standard, across several brands at once.
- Work closely with design and photography so words and images read as one.
- Interview subjects and shape their stories for print and screen.
- Proof and quality-control everything that goes out under the brand.
Required skills & experience
- A portfolio that proves range — long-form editorial and sharp short-form.
- A strong, adaptable voice and an obsessive eye for detail and grammar.
- Fast, reliable, and comfortable owning copy across multiple brands.
- An interest in design, architecture, culture and the way Africa lives and builds.
- Organised, self-directed, and easy to work with under deadline.
- Editing and interviewing experience is a real plus.
What we offer
- A full-time, Lagos-based role at the centre of a growing, design-led company.
- A rare brief: real editorial ownership across publishing, property and events.
- Close work with the founder and a team that cares about the craft.
